Amazing bookstores

Whenever I visit a new city, I love discovering places that I can't find in Barcelona. Have you been to any of these bookshops? Is there any great bookstore you recommend?

The chaos at Acqua Alta looks wonderful. They have boats, bathtubs and even a gondola filled to the brim with books. Venice is such a romantic place, what could be more romantic that those books and the idea of the acqua alta, the tide that could destroy them all?

I'd love to visit Shakespeare And Company in Paris. The first bookshop owner was Sylvia Beach. She was the first publisher of Ulysses by James Joyce. The current bookstore, created by George Whitman, is very popular because you can sleep among the bookshelves in exchange for helping in the shop. In 2015, they opened a café and they sell one of my favourite pies: lemon pie. Everything looks just fantastic: books, a café and a pie right where Nôtre Dame is.

In this bookshop located in Madrid, they buy and sell new and second-hand books in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. You can sleep there in exchange for working in the bookstore. According to their website, Desperate Literature is a joint project between Craig Walzer, Corey Eastwood, Charlotte Delattre and Terry Craven. They own Atlantis Books in Santorini, Greece, and Book Thug Nation and Human Relations in Brooklyn. They also host concerts and you can write a poem and leave it there, what more can you ask for?Desperate Literature Calle Campomanes, 13, Madrid

  1. This is such a good idea for a post... especially for book worms!

    1. Thanks, Aleeha. I'd love to visit them and see a concert/buy books there.
